Get A Plan

Time Management systems are like gloves, not one size fits all perfectly. The best systems, David Allen’s Getting Things Done and Steven Covey’s Franklin Life Planner are examples of planning systems that fit a lot of hands.

But even these two great systems don’t fit everyone. Reading reviews and comparisons of various time management tools, software programs and systems is a good start, but just a start. You need to try the ones that appeal to you, give them a test drive and see if they work for you.

You may find some of them too complex and others too simplistic. And then you find the one that’s just right!

The 7 Minute Life by Allyson Lewis is a system that I tried recently, and now include parts her system in my organization and time management daily rituals.

Allyson has just released a best-selling book, the 7 Minute Solution, which is part of a series which help you learn her time management techniques. So by now, your probably wondering where does seven big minutes come into the equation.

Seven minutes is not a literal amount of time but rather a metaphor for a short period of time, a kind of smallest segment of your life when you can do something meaningful. Using seven minute chunks of time, Allyson Lewis says that focusing just 7 short minutes each day on important goal can move that goal forward, and push it across the finish line toward successful completion. Her system combines wiser use of your computer along with some specially designed paper forms, like her popular Daily Progress Report shown below, which keep you on track. When you join her website, you can download that sheet free of change.
