“Basic GSR2 Biofeedback Relaxation SystemCalmLink Biofeedback Relaxation Software Works With GSR-II Biofeedback System
The gadget to the left which looks like a computer mouse with two chromium finger-sized dents is actually a GSR biofeedack “mouse” that measures changes to the electrical conductivity of your skin. According to Thought Technology who makes them, there are more than 1/3 of a million GSR2 in use today!
That feedback from the measuring of the “galvanic” response tells a lot about whether your body is relaxed or tense. The GSR2 precisely monitors your stress levels by translating tiny tension-related changes in skin pores into a rising or falling tone. By resting two fingers on the sensing plates you learn to lower the pitch and your stress level. You basically get “biological” feedback through the GSR2 as you learn to relax and as you get better at doing it, you’ll find yourself relaxing faster with or without the GSR2
By itself, the only feedback you get is the tone. But the makers of the GSR mouse have developed sophisticated software which turns the GSR signals into visual images on a computer screen. The software program is called “CalmLink Biofeedback Software For Relaxation”.

The software gives you three different views of your GSR, Graph, Animation and Game. Combine these visual modes and dozens of sound choices to customize your feedback. With this enhanced feedback, you can learn relaxation techniques using Animation and Graph modes
Here of one of the “Multifunction Graph Mode” displays.
Here is an “Animation Mode” display.
The Game Mode provides an opportunity to learn relaxation techniques in stress environment while the user plays a Pacman like style game.
CalmLink Biofeedback Software for Windows, (CalmLink), is specifically designed to run with GSR2 and GSR2/Temp2X devices. CalmLink works in Windows 98/98SE, ME, 2000 and XP. The main requirement is SoundBlaster compatible sound card. GSR2 connects to a computer Sound card via Microphone in jack.
