Franklin Covey Perfects PlanPlus for Outlook in the Version Three

Readers of this weblog know that I personally use PlanPlus for Outlook, FranklinCovey's organization and time management system. This week, version three was released and as it works out many times in software — three times is the charm!

Some of the new features in version 3.0 include a Project Tasks List, an improved "Home View", and an better Palm synchronization.

The addition of the Project Task List features was probably the most needed new feature. In addition to the goals section which did not show up in Outlook, you get to have clearly defined projects, similar to the way things are done in GoalPro 6.0. This probably was the only reason previously to go with Goal Pro rather than the FranklinCovey solution.

The Project Task List allows users to create a hierarchical view of all tasks related to a specific project. The tasks will automatically appear in the user's Daily Task List on the assigned day. Similar to the Daily Task List tool, users may apply status codes to tasks associated with a project.

Bottom line: The new Project List gives me the ability to organize by breaking projects down into more manageable tasks. The new Home View is a lot more useful, because I can look at my calendar, e-mail, notes, and task list simultaneously. So the imperfections of the previous versions have given way to a more useful PlanPlus for Outlook Version 3.0. For more information go here.
